Get to the Bottom of Criminal Behavior — While Advancing to the Top of Your Career.

Positioned at the crossroads of human behavior and the law, forensic psychology is an ever-growing field. Using principles of applied psychology to analyze — and in some cases, anticipate — criminal behavior, forensic psychologists are essential to maintaining a fair and equitable justice system. And Monroe’s 42-credit master’s program in Forensic Psychology will give you the theoretical and practical foundations you’ll need to become a leader in a field that’s as fascinating as it is rewarding.

The Curriculum

As a master’s candidate, you’ll develop the tools you need to perform outstanding critical analysis, assessment-building, and statistical interpretation. The program covers topics as diverse as criminology; psychopathology; progressive approaches to criminal law; trauma in both the adult and child populations; techniques in counseling and human services; and research methods and statistical analysis. In addition to 24 credits of core courses and 15 credits from forensic psychology courses, you’ll complete a 3-credit integrative capstone seminar to bring together everything you’ve learned.

Careers in Forensic Psychology

While full independent work as a psychologist in the field requires a doctorate and independent licensure to practice, a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology will prepare you for leadership positions in:

  • Social service agencies (both public and private)
  • The court system
  • Juvenile facilities
  • Correctional facilities
  • Police departments
  • Hospitals and mental health centers
  • Research agencies

Whether you’re interested in working in research, law enforcement, or as an advocate for victims or reformed offenders, you’ll have a world of career paths open to you, including:

  • Correctional Counselor
  • Victim Advocate
  • Jury Consultant
  • Police Consultant
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
  • Probation Officer
  • Investigative Journalist
  • Forensic Research Psychologist

As your career grows, so will your understanding of the human condition. With a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Monroe, you’ll learn how to navigate the complexities of both our legal system and ourselves.

We are here to help you every step of the way.

Together, We Make It Happen!
